Very rarely is there that Aha! moment when you need a new mattress, but there can be some very telltale signs. Some things to consider:
- Is your mattress over six years old? Given that your mattress is something that you use as much as anything in your household, it’s no surprise that mattress research shows that even the highest priced mattress starts to lose its’ initial level of comfort and support after 6-8 years. The warranty may cover manufacturing defects for a much longer period, but your quality of sleep could be diminished.
- Do you sleep with a partner and find yourselves rolling together at night? This indicates that the middle of your mattress lacks the integrity needed to properly support you and your partner.
- Do you wake repeatedly at night due to being hot? Today’s mattress technologies can help alleviate the build up of heat so many of us experience at night.
- Do you wake up with aches and pains in your hips and shoulder? As we age, we tend to require a higher level of comfort in our mattresses. While we could sleep on “a board” when younger, the maturing body requires more layers of comfort over a supportive innerspring to maintain the same level of sleeping comfort.
